Virginia Farm Bureau Investigations Assistant Receives Distinguished Service Award

The Virginia Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (VA IASIU) has awarded the Robert J. Covington Distinguished Service Award to Tina Bowen, investigations assistant for Virginia Farm Bureau and member of the Board of Directors of the IASIU Virginia Chapter since 2002.

The Covington Award recognizes an individual’s contributions to the insurance industry, their insurance company, the community and the VA IASIU.

Bowen began her career as a claims secretary with Virginia Farm Bureau in March 1988 and worked as a workers’ compensation representative, medical management representative, claims examiner and office claims representative.

In 2005 she joined Virginia Farm Bureau’s investigation department as an investigations assistant.

With the exception of an 11-month hiatus, she has served on the Virginia Chapter’s Board of Directors since 2002 and holds the distinction of being the longest-serving treasurer.

The award, named for Robert J. Covington, an associate vice president for Virginia Mutual Insurance, in honor of his service and work with the VA IASIU, was presented to Bowen during the VA IASIU annual fraud seminar held in May.
