Multi-Alarm Fire in Pennsylvania Spreads to Row Homes
Fire investigators are trying to find out what started a three-alarm fire at a southwest Philadelphia garage that spread to adjoining row houses, displacing at least 28 people.
The fire in the city’s Kingsessing section was reported just after 11 p.m. Tuesday and was placed under control about 90 minutes later. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania said it was providing shelter to a total of 28 people from six families, including six children.
More than two dozen homes housing as many as 70 people were evacuated as a precaution, and an evacuation center was set up at a nearby school to assist displaced residents.
