New York City Window Washers Rescued From 42nd Floor Rig
Firefighters have rescued two workers who were stuck on a window-washing rig outside the 42nd floor of a midtown Manhattan building.
A spokesman for the Fire Department says firefighters cut through glass to reach the workers and pull them inside. The workers were stranded for about an hour at the building near 6th Avenue and 46th Street after a mechanical failure in the rig’s motor.
The workers were taken to Bellevue Hospital as a precaution and released. They were not injured. One worker was taken away on a stretcher.
The FDNY says the rig had stalled and the workers could not get down.
