Maryland Derailment Damage Estimated at $2.2M
The National Transportation Safety Board says CSX Corp. is estimating the damage from a fatal train derailment near Baltimore at $2.2 million.
The agency says it has inspected all related signal systems and rail equipment. It expected to finish interviewing the train crew, maintenance workers and track inspectors by Friday afternoon.
Two 19-year-old women died when they were buried in coal while sitting on a train bridge as 21 cars derailed Monday night. The NTSB says the cars derailed at 11:56 p.m.
