Pastor Steers Megabus to Safety on Pennsylvania Turnpike
A Pittsburgh, Pa., pastor who recently got his commercial driver’s license is being credited with steering a Megabus to safety when its driver fell ill on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Megabus officials confirm the incident happened about 6 p.m. Monday near the Bedford exit.
James Grantz, the young pastor of the City Reach Church on Pittsburgh’s North Side, says he grabbed the wheel when he noticed the driver was incoherent. Passengers say two semi-trucks who apparently noticed the bus was weaving and blocked the bus from going off the road until Grantz gained control of the vehicle.
Megabus officials say the driver is being checked by doctors and is doing well. Grantz says she told him she had forgotten her blood-pressure medicine.
Megabus officials say a relief driver was brought to the scene to complete the trip from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.
