Red Sox Manager Has Minor Bike Accident in NYC
Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine suffered minor injuries to his knees and hips after skidding on his bike and sliding down a hill in New York’s Central Park.
Valentine tells The New York Times he was reading a text on his cell phone when the accident occurred.
When he looked up, he was heading for two French tourists walking in front of him. He swerved to avoid them, lost his balance and went careening down the hill.
An avid biker, Valentine admitted it’s wrong to ride and read texts. At least he was wearing a helmet.
The message was from Red Sox player Dustin Pedroia. The second baseman was telling Valentine he’d play Tuesday’s game against the Yankees despite a broken finger.
