Virginia Woman Ordered to Remove Online Review Accusations
A Virginia woman being sued over negative online reviews of a home contractor has been ordered to delete some accusations.
A Fairfax County Circuit judge ruled Wednesday that the homeowner could not imply that the contractor stole items from her home. And she is barred from repeating them in new posts.
Contractor Christopher Dietz is claiming the reviews posted by Jane Perez were false and cost him $300,000 in business. The contractor is suing for defamation and is seeking $750,000.
Dietz called the ruling a win on morality, integrity and truthfulness. Perez’ attorney says it’s a matter of free speech and she will appeal if needed.
A trial date for the defamation case has not been set.
