Virginia Snowstorm Keeps State Police Busy
Virginia State Police were scrambling at the height of a storm that coated interstates and city streets across the commonwealth with a slick covering of snow.
Late Friday, state police reported 651 vehicle crashes and 385 disabled vehicles. In all, state police say they received 2,219 calls for assistance.
The majority of the crashes involved damage to vehicles. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The storm Friday snarled rush hour traffic. Snow ranged from a dusting to up to 3 inches in parts of Hampton Roads.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says crews worked through the night to clear the interstates and primary roads. VDOT warns that many second routes remain crusted with packed snow.
