Ex-Bus MBTA Driver Convicted of Misleading Police

A former MBTA bus driver has been convicted of misleading transit police when she said a stranger shot at her and robbed her on duty in 2007.

But the Boston, Mass., jury also acquitted 54-year-old Nancy Park of Burlington on Monday of worker compensation fraud and filing a false police report.

Prosecutors said Parker fraudulently collected more than $7,750 in workers compensation. She was later fired.

Parker allegedly told police a man shot at her and demanded money after she picked him up on her route in Chelsea. She then allegedly changed her story and said he was trying to collect money for an ex-girlfriend.

Parker could face up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced Wednesday. Her attorneys say she will seek probation, and hasn’t decided whether to appeal.
