New York Cop in Band Faked Injury
A New York police officer who was moonlighting as a member of a punk rock band has been accused of disability fraud.
Federal prosecutors announced the charges against Christopher Inserra on Tuesday.
A criminal complaint says Inserra falsely claimed that he couldn’t work because of an arm injury suffered while on duty with the Port Authority Police Department.
It says that while the 31-year-old was sick with full pay and collecting more than $31,000 in disability, he continued to perform as the lead singer of a band called Cousin Sleaze.
Investigators say they located videos showing the punk rocker violently moving his purportedly hurt arm up and down and back and forth.
The name was Inserra’s attorney wasn’t immediately available.
