New Jersey Insurance Regulator Appoints Arbitrator for Sandy Claims
In a bulletin issued on March 28, the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance advised all property casualty insurers operating in the state that any unresolved first party claims against homeowners, auto and commercial insurance insurance policies may be resolved through a mediation program.
The American Arbitration Association (AAA) has been selected as the administrator of the mediation program.
If a policyholder requests mediation, the insurer is required to forward the request to the AAA within one business day of receiving the request.
The contact information for the this program is:
- AAA
- by facsimile – 877-304-8457
- by phone – 855-366-9774
- by email – njsandymediation@adr.org
- by mail – 1101 Laurel Oak Road, Suite 100, Voorhees, NJ 08043
The AAA has a specific email address for insurers to send information regarding their primary contact person on mediation requests and issues. That email address is StormSandyNJinsurers@adr.org.
