Rhode Island Hospital Loses $1.3M Slip-and-Fall Case
A Central Falls, R.I., woman has been awarded $1.3 million in judgment against Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Attorney Ronald Resmini tells the Providence Journal his client, Fatima Delacruz, was permanently disabled when she fell and fractured her kneecap outside a hospital elevator in 2006.
He successfully argued the hospital was negligent in failing to put up warning signs after washing the floor outside the elevator.
A Superior Court jury awarded $678,519 in damages and Resmini says with interest that becomes about $1.3 million.
The Hospital’s attorney, Dennis McCarten, says he will file a motion for a new trial.
