Man in Fatal Delaware Crash Faces Probable Deportation
A Delaware landscaper involving in a fatal drunken-driving crash is expected to be deported to Mexico after finishing his prison sentence.
Jesus Juarez-Perez was sentenced to three years in prison Friday for a January crash that killed a New Castle man and injured two others.
His blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit when his car crossed a center line and collided head-on with another vehicle.
The 32-year-old Juarez-Perez apologized in court as he spoke through a translator.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Juarez-Perez is an illegal immigrant, and lawyers expect him to be deported after he finishes his sentence. A Superior Court judge ruled that Juarez-Perez would have to serve the full sentence of 10 years if he’s not deported and returns to Delaware.
