Vermont Ski Resort Sued After 5-Year-Old Injured
A family has sued Vermont’s Jay Peak ski resort, saying their 5-year-old daughter was seriously injured by a former snowboard instructor during a skiing lesson.
The lawsuit filed in federal court in Burlington says Juliana Kane of West Newbury, Mass., was on a beginner trail on April 17 when William Vincent came down the hill at a high rate of speed and collided with her.
The lawsuit says the girl suffered a liver laceration, concussion, partially collapsed lung, and other injuries.
Vincent, of Enosburg, and the ski-school instructor, Jenn Leveillee of East Berkshire, are listed as defendants. Resort president Bill Stenger tells the Burlington Free Press Vincent had been fired a week earlier for an unrelated incident.
Stenger said he was unaware of the details of the accident.
