Maine Governor Urges Residents to Report Ice Damage

January 6, 2014

Maine residents are being encouraged to report ice storm damage to their homes and businesses so the state can assess what kind of assistance might be available.

Gov. Paul LePage says businesses that suffered a significant loss of revenue because of the storm should also report it. He says residents should call 211, the statewide directory for health and human services, to talk to specialists who may be able to refer them to appropriate sources of help. Such calls won’t be treated as applications for help, but will help the state know how many people have been affected and where the damage is.

LePage says it is also very important for people to call their insurance companies to report storm damage.
