New York Contractor Pleads Guilty to Sandy Fraud
A contractor from Staten Island has admitted defrauding Superstorm Sandy victims in New Jersey.
Prosecutors say 52-year-old Frank Lewery took nearly $31,000 in deposits from homeowners in Rumson and never completed repairs.
Lewery pleaded guilty on Monday to theft and failure to register as a contractor.
Under a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a sentence of three years and restitution when Lewery is sentenced in May.
