Connecticut City Settles Officer Assault Lawsuit for $230K
A Stamford, Conn., police officer denies any wrongdoing in an incident that led the city to agree to pay $230,000 to settle a lawsuit by a woman who accused him of punching her.
Greg Zach said Wednesday he believes he would have prevailed at a second trial. He says nearly all the claims were dismissed in an earlier trial.
Zach says the woman and two others attacked him.
Antonio Ponvert III, an attorney for the woman, announced Wednesday that the $230,000 settlement resolves a lawsuit against Stamford and Zach by Brenda Mazariegos of Norwalk.
A lawsuit resulted in a hung jury last year on some charges while other charges were dismissed. A second trial was scheduled to begin this month.
The city did not admit wrongdoing.
