Connecticut School Changes Traffic Pattern After Fatal Accident

April 23, 2014

Officials at a Connecticut school complex are implementing a new traffic pattern in response to the death of a teacher after an accident last month.

The new pattern at RHAM High School and Middle School in Hebron is set to begin Monday. The Journal Inquirer reports that school officials also are planning to add signs, speed bumps and other safety improvements.

Dawn Mallory of Groton, a math teacher at RHAM Middle School, was struck in the middle school parking lot March 14 and died two weeks later. Officials say a parent drove her SUV into a bus-only area by mistake and hit Mallory while trying to back up. No charges have been filed.

Officials say the new traffic pattern will better separate buses from parents dropping off their children.
