FEMA Extends Flood Insurance Claims Deadline for Jersey Sandy Victims

May 2, 2014

New Jersey residents and businesses are getting an additional six months to add losses to their National Flood Insurance Program claims after Superstorm Sandy.

The decision by the Federal Emergency Management Agency was announced Wednesday by the state’s Banking and Insurance Department.

The news came one day after the deadline had passed. The new deadline is Oct. 28.

In a statement, Gov. Chris Christie says the extension means that storm victims can file supplemental claims for damage they did not initially discover.
