Fire Destroys 13 Homes in Pittsburgh Suburb
Crews continued to douse hot spots from a fire that damaged or destroyed 13 homes in the tiny Pittsburgh, Pa., suburb of Mount Oliver.
No fatalities or serious injuries were reported after the fire broke out about 10 a.m. Sunday.
Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Michael Huss says the fire started in one home and spread to several other neighboring homes before flying embers cause the fire to jump to another street.
Mount Oliver is populated with wood-frame homes built closely together, which is common in the city and many of its working-class suburbs.
Roughly 50 people were said to be homeless.
The precise cause of the fire was still being investigated Monday, as crews battled hot spots, which continued to re-ignite.
