Pennsylvania Lumber Yard Open After $350K Fire
A family-owned lumber yard in western Pennsylvania was open for business two days after a fire caused about $350,000 in a storage building.
Officials at Schroth Industries in White Township, Indiana County confirmed they were back in business Monday. Indiana Fire Association officials say the storage building caught fire about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a piece of heavy equipment ignited some fuel when the business’ owner was attempting to refuel it.
That man, Walter Schroth, wasn’t hurt. He didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Monday.
An assistant fire chief says the fire caused about $350,000 damage to the building and items being stored there.
The lumber and wood-treatment company is located about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. It was founded in 1920.
