Fire at Massachusetts Dealership Destroys 15 High End Cars
Fifteen luxury vehicles were destroyed and five others were damaged in a massive fire Monday at a Sudbury, Mass., auto dealership.
There were no reports of injuries.
The fire at a lot at Herb Chambers Land Rover and Jaguar on Route 20 was reported by a passer-by just after 1 a.m., Fire Chief William Miles said.
“Crews had heavy fire showing from several vehicles upon arrival at the auto dealership,” Miles said.
The blaze, which was so intense that aluminum wheels melted, left little but burned out hulks.
The state Fire Marshal’s office is assisting in the investigation to determine a cause. Surveillance video from the dealership is being used.
“The good news is that nobody got hurt,” Chambers said. “They’re just cars.”
The damage was so severe that it was unclear which vehicles were new, and which had been left by customers for service, he said.
The first goal of the dealer will be getting customers who lost their vehicles new rides, Chambers said.
Sudbury firefighters were helped at the scene by the Marlborough Fire Department, while the Concord and Maynard departments provided coverage.
