Fire Causes $1M in Damage to Boston Buildings, Leaves 34 Homeless
Boston, Mass., fire officials an overnight five-alarm fire that destroyed two buildings has left 34 homeless, caused more than $1 million in damage and injured two firefighters.
The Boston Fire Department said on Saturday that the massive blaze broke out at one triple decker on Friday night. The fire then jumped through the roof to the neighboring building.
One firefighter suffered a knee injury and the second one was treated for heat exhaustion. They are expected to recover. None of the residents were injured.
The fire department announced on its Twitter page that authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire in East Boston’s Saratoga Street.
