Maryland Teen Pleads Guilty to Burning Speed Camera Box

A Howard County teenager has pleaded guilty to setting speed-camera equipment on fire.

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Connor Lynn Eash of Glenelg pleaded guilty Monday to malicious destruction of property and attempted malicious burning stemming from two incidents in May.

Police say Eash set fire to a speed-camera box in Glenel, Md., on May 22. Police say the device was under surveillance two nights later when they saw Eash approaching the box while carrying an ax, a bottle of gasoline and a lighter. He was arrested shortly after.

WBAL-TV reports that prosecutors said in court Monday that Each told police he was “mad at the camera” and felt it was morally wrong.

Eash is set to be sentenced on Jan. 15.
