Virginia County Traffic Deaths Hit Double-Digits
Police are urging motorists in Pittsylvania to drive safely as the number of traffic deaths has reached double digits.
Virginia State Police say 15 people have died in traffic accidents in the county since Jan. 1, compared to eight fatalities in all of 2013.
State police 1st Sgt. John H. Turner said Monday in a news release that all but one of this year’s fatalities was preventable.
Turner says police have stepped up patrols and enforcement to make the county’s roads safer. But he says motorists need to do their part. That includes using seat belts, complying with speed limits, driving sober and avoiding distractions.
