$300K Raised for Family in Jet Crash Into Maryland Home
An online fundraiser has collected more than $300,000 for the surviving family members of a Maryland mother and her two young sons killed when a jet crashed into their home.
The gofundme.com account had raised about $310,000 through Wednesday morning, less than 48 hours after a business jet crashed into a neighborhood near an airport in suburban Washington.
Marie Gemmell tried to protect her sons, 3-year-old Cole and 1-month-old Devin, but fire officials say they all died of smoke inhalation. Fire officials say three men aboard the jet died of traumatic injuries.
Marie Gemmell’s husband, Ken Gemmell, and their school-aged daughter, Arabelle, weren’t home at the time of the crash.
Ken Gemmell says his wife was the love of his life and his sons were “innocent and joyful.”
