PartnerRe Makes Catastrophe Management Changes
Bermuda-based PartnerRe Ltd. has announced management changes in the Group’s U.S. and worldwide catastrophe reinsurance underwriting operations.
Effective July 2007, Tad Walker will succeed Robin Williams as Executive VP and Chief Underwriting Officer. Williams has advised the Company of her decision to retire in 2008. Walker will report directly to Scott Moore, President and CEO of PartnerRe U.S.
Walker currently heads PartnerRe’s Catastrophe business unit. The bulletin said “Williams will remain with the Company until the end of 2008 and will work closely with Mr. Walker on the transition. Mr. Walker has led the worldwide catastrophe underwriting operations and has been a member of the executive management team for PartnerRe Global since 2002, when he joined the Company.”
Moore commended Williams for her “significant contribution to the growth and development of the PartnerRe U.S. organization.” She joined the Company in the fall of 2000 and under her leadership PartnerRe’s U.S. underwriting operation “developed significant capabilities across all lines of business and built a well balanced, diversified book of business, with premium writings of US$1 billion.”
Moore also welcomed Walker to his new post, praising his “underwriting and operational experience and strong leadership skills.”
PartnerRe also announced that, “effective July 2007, Ted Dziurman, currently responsible for Corporate Development for PartnerRe Global, will assume the role of Head of Catastrophe and will report directly to Bruno Meyenhofer, CEO PartnerRe Global.” Dziurman has broad executive and leadership experience in both insurance and reinsurance. He joined PartnerRe in 2004.
Meyenhofer commented, “Ted is a good fit for our catastrophe business unit. His strong operational background and extensive knowledge of the reinsurance market position him well to lead our talented team of catastrophe underwriters.” He also noted that “Walker has been an important member of the global executive management team, and has contributed significantly to the development of our Catastrophe business unit over the past five years. I want to thank him and congratulate him on his new position.”
PartnerRe’s CEO Patrick Thiele expressed his pleasure at the “ability of the organization to deal with the normal transitions that we face in terms of management positions. I’m confident that our clients will see no change in our approach to the market and to them,” he added.
