Marsh’s New Private Client Head Warns of Reliance on ‘Standard Cover’

February 25, 2008

Marsh’s London office has announced the appointment of Adrian Saunders to be the Head of Private Client Services in the UK. He will report to Mike Melling CEO of Marsh’s Consumer Practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Saunders joins Marsh from Zurich Insurance where he had been Managing Director of Strategic Partnerships. Prior to joining Zurich in 2004, he was Regional Manager for the North of England at Hiscox.

He lost no time in taking on his new role. In his opening comment on his appointment Saunders warned: “Growth in people’s personal wealth in recent years has been matched by their increasingly busy lifestyles. High net worth individuals often find that, when they need to make a claim, the terms and conditions of standard insurance cover are not sufficient for valuable personal assets.

“The larger and more complex an individual’s requirements, the greater the need for personal advice and expertise to cover often global risks. With this growth in the number of people who could benefit from tailored insurance solutions and personal advice, it is amazing that the awareness of the availability of such services remains so low.”

He added that he was looking forward to joining Marsh’s “experienced team” and the opportunity to expand “both in the UK and globally.”

Melling noted: “Working directly with private clients, or through their advisors, tailoring insurance solutions for high net worth individuals and their families in the UK and around the world is a key growth strategy for Marsh. With his track record of building both high net worth client relationships, as well as strategic partnerships, Adrian is a strong addition to our team.”
