2 Seriously Injured in Germany Carnival Accident
A woman is in hospital in critical condition and another was seriously injured after a seat broke off an octopus ride at a Bremen carnival and skidded into a safety railing.
Police said Friday that the exact cause of the accident was still under investigation but that it appeared that an axle on the ride had broken.
The seat broke off Thursday night while carrying two women, hitting the ground and sliding into the railing. A 27-year-old was taken to hospital in life threatening condition but police say she has now been stabilized, while a 29-year-old was also seriously injured. Both suffered internal injuries.
Police say another seven people from the crowd were treated for minor injuries and shock.
