Kenyan Official Gleans Safety Ideas from S.C. Visit
A delegation from the Republic of Kenya is visiting South Carolina to learn about ways to improve the East African nation’s automotive safety.
Clemson University says Hassan Ole Kamwaro, chairman of Kenya’s Transport Licensing Board, starts a weeklong visit Monday. His planned stops include Michelin North America facilities in the state, as well as the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Department of Motor Vehicles and Traffic Law Enforcement Training Academy in Columbia. He also plans to meet with state legislators.
The Clemson University Automotive Safety Research Institute in Greenville is hosting the visit. Executive director Kim Alexander says the university hopes the trip will give Kamwaro helpful safety ideas to put to work in Kenya immediately.
