Greece: Train Hits Rail Car, 2 Injured

A passenger train struck a rail car north of the Greek capital Tuesday, lightly injuring two people, officials said.

National rail operator Trainose said a suburban rail train traveling from Athens to the central city of Halkida struck the side of the stationary rail car at a station in Menidi, 10 kilometers (six miles) north of the capital, and continued on its journey.

Two rail employees inside the stationary car suffered light injuries from the low-speed collision, while no one on the moving train was hurt, the operator said.

Authorities had initially said that the train had been heading toward Athens.
