Ikea Recalls Track Lighting System
Swedish home furnishings group Ikea is recalling a faulty track lighting system, warning that the defected products could present a risk of electric shock.
The company Thursday said no incidents or accidents have been reported, but encourages customers who have bought the Ikea 365+ SANDA track 70, or 114, from supplier 21338 between September 2011 and March 2012, to end use of the product “immediately” and return it for a replacement or full refund.
It advises to disconnect power before dismantling, since contact with the track, or lamps connected to it, could be dangerous due to a defective earth connection.
Ikea spokeswoman Ylva Magnusson says 95,000 tracks have been sold, with most of them in Germany, followed by Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands and France.
