XL Catlin has appointed James Barbuti to lead its Multinational Casualty Insurance Segment, part of XL Catlin’s Global Risk Management Division. Based in New York, James will report to Ken Riegler, president of Global Risk Management.

Since joining XL Catlin in 2012, Barbuti served as senior vice president, zonal manager for XL Catlin’s Risk Management business in the Eastern US. He also developed the Division’s guidelines and standards for general Business Development and Target Account Marketing. Prior to joining XL Catlin, he managed the New York operations for ACE Risk Management (now Chubb). He brings nearly 30 years of risk management experience to his new position having worked for both insurance carriers and brokers.

Mass.-based The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. appointed Mark L. Keim executive vice president, corporate development and strategy, effective Monday, November 21.

Keim is an accomplished insurance and financial services executive with extensive experience in finance, strategy and corporate development roles at Fortune 50 companies. He will work closely with members of The Hanover’s senior team to identify strategic business opportunities and to develop and implement the company’s long-term business plan.

Prior to joining The Hanover, Keim co-founded HealthReveal, a pioneering big data analytics company. Previously, he held key leadership roles at Aetna, from 2008 to 2014, serving as global head of strategy and corporate development, as well as president of the organization’s venture capital business. Before joining Aetna, he was senior vice president, strategy and business development at GE Capital, and held financial leadership roles at PepsiCo and Salomon Brothers.

Specialty Markets Plus Names Rowe to Lead Cyber Risk Platform

Specialty Markets Plus (SMP), an affiliate of SMP Consulting Group, a national premium audit consulting firm, announced the appointment of David Rowe to lead cyber risk business development. SMP’s new bundled cyber risk platform will include analytics and assessment together with insurance products and other risk transfer capabilities.

He has extensive experience in the Property/Casualty insurance marketplace. In addition, he has a Masters in Internet Business Systems and Technology with a unique blend of expertise and background to help lead the development of a quickly developing cyber insurance market.

Rowe will report to Ed Ragan, EVP.
