Business People: Sedgwick, Swiss Re and Crawford & Co.
Sedgwick has hired Rob Kramer, a former York Risk Services manager, as director of pool administration.
Kramer will be responsible for developing creative solutions to help risk pools continue to thrive as they face exposures and market conditions new to the industry, the Memphis, Tenn.-based third-party administrator said in a press release.Kramer will oversee both his pool and Joint Powers Authorities.
Prior to joining Sedgwick, Kramer served as executive director of 10 public- and private-entity self-insured group clients while working at York Risk Services Group’s Bickmore subsidiary. He has experience in various consultative areas, including the administration and formation of self-insurance group programs, development of governing documents and coverage memoranda, meeting facilitation, development of proposals, benchmarking studies and review of contracts and agreements for proper transfer of risk, Sedgwick said.
Kramer holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, a Master’s in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento and a Juris Doctor from the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. He also earned a professional designation as an Associate in Risk Management.
Swiss Re has appointed Marc Scheidegger, now with Chubb, as its chief claims manager.
Scheidegger will lead a team of experienced claims professionals, ensuring claims handling and reserving processes are met consistently and maintain an open dialogue with underwriting, actuarial, finance and other functions to provide claims intelligence, Swiss Re said in a press release. He will also focus on people to ensure the carrier is attracting and developing talent.
Subject to approval by regulators, Scheidegger will assume the role on 1 June 2020 and join the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Executive Committee. He will relocate from Paris to Zurich and report to Andreas Berger, CEO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
Scheidegger brings over 24 years of insurance experience, during which he held numerous leadership roles with broad international claims responsibilities, Swiss Re said. Most recently, he was claims director for continental Europe for Chubb, according to his Linkedin profile.
Scheidegger succeeds James George, who has decided to pursue other professional and personal opportunities, Swiss Re said. George will step down as Corporate Solutions’ chief claims officer as of April 1. He has served 25 years with the company and its legacy firms, Swiss Re said.
Berger will step into an interim role between 1 April and 1 June, subject to approval by regulators, Swiss Re said. George will remain with the company through July 1 to allow for a seamless transition, the company said.
Scheidegger is a native of Switzerland. He holds a masters in science in innovation management from the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland and a bachelor of arts in business administration and marketing from the University of Applied Sciences of Zurich.
Crawford & Company announced the appointment of Lizzy Adkins as vertical market leader in litigation management.
In the newly created role, Adkins will be responsible for expanding Crawford’s casualty book focusing on litigation management for the U.S. She will be based in Seattle working out of the Atlanta-based company’s Pacific Northwest Regional office.
Adkins most previously served as casualty team leader and national general adjuster for McLarens, a global loss adjusting company. Adkins is also a member of several industry affiliations, including, Professional Claims Managers Council of Washington, National Association of Professional Women and Claims and the Litigation Management Alliance.
Adkins began here career in 1991 as a multi-line claims adjuster, she says on her Linkedin page. She as worked in both property and casualty adjuster positions as well as a claims supervisor.
