OCI Cautions Wisc. Residents to Report Suspicious Sales, Solicitations
Wisconsin residents are being cautioned by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) to question any person who represents themselves as working for the agency while marketing insurance or securities.
The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance is a state agency responsible for the regulation of the insurance industry and does not endorse or sell insurance products. The Office is encouraging consumers to report any and all suspicious insurance sales and solicitations that claim to have an association with the Office.
“All of the Office’s publications are freely available online [http://oci.wi.gov], and the possession of one or more of these brochures in no way represents an official connection to the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance,” said Jorge Gomez, Commissioner of Insurance.
Consumers who have had contact with salespersons claiming an association with OCI or salespersons attempting to sell insurance using high pressure tactics should contact their local law enforcement immediately, as well as OCI.
If appropriate, OCI can instruct consumers on how to file a written complaint with the Office.
