J.D. Power and Associates Ranks The Auto Club Group in Top 10 of its Study

December 4, 2003

The Auto Club Group – holding company for AAA Michigan and other AAA affiliates in the Midwest – has achieved a top 10 ranking in the J.D. Power and Associates 2003 National Auto Insurance Study(SM).

The Auto Club Group improved its overall satisfaction score over 2002 and remains ranked ninth. In the area of claims satisfaction, The Auto Club Group did even better, receiving the third-highest score. The rankings are based on 14,862 responses from auto insurance policy holders.

The J.D. Power and Associates 2003 National Auto Insurance Study(SM) examines eight factors of overall satisfaction (in order of importance): reliability; policy offerings; most recent contact; ease of working with insurer; claims; billing; personnel and price.

“We are very proud of this accomplishment,” said Steve Monahan, president and COO, Auto Club Insurance Association (ACIA). “Achieving this recognition for the second straight year shows that our organization has met the challenges of intense competition and higher customer expectations.”

ACIA-affiliated insurance companies provide personal lines insurance products and services for AAA members in all clubs within The Auto Club Group. Headquartered in Michigan, ACIA is an affiliate of the national organization and part of The Auto Club Group, which serves more than 4 million AAA members in eight Midwest states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

The Auto Club Group, in achieving a third-highest score for claims, saw its satisfaction scores increase among consumers who filed claims within the last three years. The study reported that The Auto Club Group resolved within one week more than half the claims it received.
