Dayton Man Guilty on Comp Fraud Charges

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a Dayton man has pled guilty to workers’ compensation fraud.

Philmore Farmer is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 29 in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas. It is estimated that the workers’ compensation system overpaid Farmer approximately $11,253.18.

BWC’s special investigation unit (SIU) learned of possible fraud by Farmer after receiving an anonymous tip. The SIU reportedly found Farmer was working while receiving workers’ comp benefits and confirmed he was employed at several nursing homes as a caregiver. Farmer was employed at both Medway Care Center and Central Manor.

Farmer was injured on the job in July 1977 while working for W.C.C. Foundry Inc. Farmer suffered a knee and leg injury. He was receiving permanent total disability benefits from BWC for his injury.
