Minnesota’s Department of Human Services Chooses Oblix to Secure Claims Processing
Oblix, a developer of identity-based security solutions, announced that the state of Minnesota’s Department of Human Services is using Oblix COREid for Identity Management and Web Access Control. More than 30,000 medical providers will reportedly be able to use a single user name and password to submit claims via the state’s secure Web portal.
The Oblix solution allows the Department of Human Services to work with medical providers ranging from small dental offices to large HMOs. Claims processed through the system include prescription drugs, office visits, hospital procedures and healthcare medications. Oblix COREid’s integrated workflow will reportedly help ensure that transactions are compliant with HIPAA regulations.
COREid also reportedly allows the Department of Human Services to keep administrative processing costs down by distributing responsibility for managing patient identity information to medical providers across its network. This delegated model enables providers to work more closely with doctors and patients, improving service levels.
In choosing a solution, the state evaluated technologies based on criteria that included interoperability with existing systems, flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Identity workflow capabilities were also critical because in the next phase of HIPAA compliance, the state will implement automated enrollment processes for medical providers.
