Ohio Doctor Prescribes Workers’ Comp Fraud
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a Greenville, Ohio man has pled guilty to a felony charge of workers’ compensation fraud.
Dr. Robert Fantasia was sentenced to one year probation, basic supervision and court costs. He also paid BWC more than $216,000 in restitution and surrendered his State of Ohio chiropractic license.
Anonymous sources alerted BWC special investigations that Fantasia was improperly billing BWC. The special investigations unit confirmed though undercover operations that criminal activity was occurring in his office.
Evidence reportedly showed that Dr. Fantasia billed for services not rendered, billed for no-show appointments and improperly up coded forms.
