Monaco Coach Corp. Garners the Hartford’s Top Award for World Class Safety
Monaco Coach Corp. has been awarded the “Pewter Stag Award,” The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.’s highest honor for improved worker safety.
Monaco Coach Corporation’s Indiana operations have worked to develop a world class safety program for its 2,700 Indiana employees that has reportedly resulted in a worker injury rate that is almost 23 percent lower than the national average for all manufacturers of transportation equipment.
“Monaco Coach congratulates our Indiana employees,” said Kay Toolson, CEO of Monaco Coach Corporation. “It was their dedication to reducing accidents and injuries which earned them The Hartford’s highest safety award.”
From 2001 to 2003 Monaco reduced its workers’ compensation claims in its Indiana factory locations by almost 35 percent.
“In 2004 Monaco Coach’s Indiana operations rolled out a number of new safety initiatives to add to an already good safety program. Monaco developed new employee training programs that keep safety at the forefront, and created systems that encourage supervisors to report and investigate accidents quickly and thoroughly and to take measures that prevent reoccurrence,” said Eric Longman, executive loss control consultant at The Hartford. “These measures
all help prevent on-the-job injuries – and earned Monaco Coach Corporation this award.”
