Wis. Gov. Notes $5,000 Grant for Tornado Victims

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle recently announced a $5,000 emergency housing grant for the victims of the recent tornado in the village of Hammond in St. Croix County.

“This grant will ensure that displaced citizens continue to have a safe place to live until they can return to their homes or other permanent housing,” Gov. Doyle said. “Since the tornado struck, people in this community have really come together to help their neighbors. I want to thank everyone involved in the volunteer efforts.”

The $5,000 disaster grant will provide disaster services and will help cover the cost of temporary housing for the families displaced as a result of the tornado. The tornado damaged 22 homes and displaced 24 families.

The grant will be administered by the St. Croix Valley Chapter of the Red Cross and is being made available through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA).
