Rolls-Royce Wins Ohio Gov.’s WC Award
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced that Rolls-Royce is one of six companies that received the 2005 Governor’s Excellence in Workers’ Compensation Award (GEA). Rolls-Royce is the winner of the Self Insured category.
“Employers like Rolls-Royce have demonstrated they will go to great lengths to ensure their employees work in safe environments, and I am proud to recognize them for their outstanding achievements,” said Tina Kielmeyer, BWC Administrator/CEO. “Focusing on workplace safety keeps Ohioans working while also reducing the cost companies pay for compensation.”
The Governor’s Excellence in Workers’ Compensation Award is given to employers that focus on aggressively reducing workplace accidents and actively supporting injured workers with return-to-work programs.
Rolls-Royce is a packager of aero-derivative gas turbine power and compression systems for energy markets worldwide. Business Directors conduct monthly shop audits and health and safety is reportedly the top item discussed at company meetings. Further, with the help of BWC, Rolls-Royce instituted a Drug Free Workplace Program.
In 2004, Marsh Insurance conducted a workers’ comp gap analysis for Rolls-Royce. The Mount Vernon, Ohio facility received the highest initial score ever given by a Marsh Assessment Team.
