Mich. Dentist Charged in Scam
A Michigan dentist has been charged with 91 felony insurance fraud and drug charges, accused of fraudulently billing insurers for approximately $18,000 from December 2001 through January of this year.
Dr. Thomas Endicott of Adrian, Mich. will stay in jail while he awaits a hearing in the complicated case that police put together over the past few months. Bond was left at $1.4 million.
A total of 72 counts of health-care fraud and 19 drug counts were authorized by the county prosecutor’s office. An investigation into allegations of insurance fraud and drug abuse was started at the same time Endicott was charged with assaulting an employee at his office. He was arraigned June 3 on a fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct count for an alleged March 17 offense.
Endicott pleaded not guilty in that case and is scheduled for trial Sept. 27 in circuit court.
