Iowa State Bar Endorses Westport Insurance and Lockton Risk Services

The Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA) announced it will endorse Westport Insurance and Lockton Risk Services to provide Professional Liability insurance to Iowa Bar members.

The ISBA chose Lockton as its preferred broker and Westport as its insurance carrier. Westport Insurance is rated “A” by A.M. Best and has a 34-year history underwriting professional liability for lawyers, according to the written statement issued by the Bar Association.

“We’re pleased to be able to share practical risk expertise and services with Iowa lawyers to help them protect and defend their reputations,” said Mike Furlong, Lawyers Professional Liability leader for Westport Insurance. “They will have access to our best-in-class underwriting and claims expertise.”

Westport underwriters have an average 15 years’ experience and its claims experts an average 13 years’ experience, according to Furlong.

“The ISBA Insurance Program offers lawyers a more competitive rate, an improved policy form and a commitment to outstanding customer service,” said Dwight Dinkla, executive director of the Iowa State Bar Association. “We’re letting our members know that this endorsement comes as many of them are receiving their annual insurance renewal notices.”
