Ind. Department, Institute, Investigators Host 2007 Insurance Fraud Seminar
Insurance and fraud groups are inviting insurance professionals to a half-day Insurance Fraud Seminar scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Indiana Government Center. The event is hosted by the Insurance Institute of Indiana, the Indiana Chapter of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators (NSPII), the Indiana Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU), and the Indiana Department of Insurance.
Indiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Atterholt will address the group at noon. The Seminar will continue with presentations regarding surveillance, methamphetamines and property claims, red flags in medical examinations, origin and cause fire examinations, and good faith claims handling.
According to the sponsors of the seminar, Insurance fraud is a serious problem in Indiana and throughout the U. S., costing Americans billions of dollars. The Coalition Against Insurance Fraud estimates more than $80 billion of insurance fraud takes place each year. This translates into higher insurance premiums and increased costs for running a business, owning a home, or driving a car. The Insurance Institute of Indiana, NSPII, IASIU, and the Indiana Department of Insurance believe education is a key component in reducing fraud and saving consumers money, the release said.
The Insurance Institute has applied for attendees to receive 3 hours of CE, CLE and CPCU credit for this event.
An agenda and registration forms can be found online at www.insuranceinstitute.org/fraudseminar.pdf. For more information on attending the 2007 Insurance Fraud Seminar, please contact Jon Zarich at jmz@insuranceinstitute.org.
