September Trial Set for Iowa Firefighter Charged in Fire
A Sergeant Bluff, Iowa volunteer firefighter accused of setting fire to a vacant house in the northwest Iowa city is scheduled to go on trial on Sept. 30 in Woodbury County.
Heath Erickson pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree arson and second-degree burglary.
According to court documents, Erickson allegedly used kerosene to start a fire on July 10 around the back door of the house.
Firefighters, including Erickson, responded to the fire.
Woodbury County sheriff’s officials have said investigators are looking for a possible link between Erickson and other unsolved fires.
Erickson is on administrative leave from the fire department pending the outcome of the case.
