Fire Destroys Indiana Sawmill
Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed an Allen County, Ind. sawmill.
No one was injured in the fire at Black Creek Hardwoods near Grabill, about 10 miles northeast of Fort Wayne.
Owner Joe Lengacher says he was eating lunch at his nearby home when he saw that the 300-foot long sawmill was on fire. No one was inside the building when the fire broke out.
Northeast Fire Department Chief Steve Herman says wood products in the sawmill and a lack of water and manpower made fighting the fire difficult.
Fire officials estimate the damage at $1 million.
