Army Inspecting 4 North Dakota Dams
The Army Corps of Engineers says four dams in North Dakota are among the 600 nationwide that are being screened through a new public safety process.
The corps says the Garrison, Bowman Haley and Snake Creek dams have been classified as presenting a low risk to the public.
The agency says Pipestem Dam got a slightly lower rating because of questions about seepage and settlement. Corps officials say they’ve monitored the dam and found no evidence of immediate safety problems but more studies are planned.
