Illinois Homeowner Sues to Obtain Claim Information on Explosion
A southwestern Illinois woman has filed a suit seeking information about why her home exploded last month.
Laura Williams filed the suit in Madison County Circuit Court. A Feb. 13 blast destroyed her Pontoon Beach home and damaged several others. No one was seriously injured.
Her suit asks the court to force Ameren and Madison Mutual Insurance Co. to turn over potential evidence about the blast, including documents, photos, video recordings and gas meter readings.
Fire officials have said the cause of the explosion is “suspicious.”
The property was at the center of a long-standing and complicated series of disputes in the Madison County courts. Those cases including a now-settled foreclosure involving one of the current occupants.
