North Dakota Police Report Thefts from Flooded Homes
Added to the misery of the recent extensive flooding in North Dakota, some residents are returning to find their homes have burglarized.
Burleigh County, N.D., officials are investigating burglaries at two flooded homes in the Fox Island area along the Missouri River in south Bismarck.
Sheriff’s Lt. Nick Sevart said the homeowners, who are staying elsewhere, discovered the burglaries when they went to check on their homes. He said electronic devices, camera equipment, computers and jewelry were taken.
“Frankly, being as we live in North Dakota, we don’t expect looters,” Sevart said. “Hopefully, they’ll find out who these guys are, because that’s about as low as you can go.”
